ViralSharky generates YouTube Shorts hashtags, tags, hooks, and descriptions from a one-sentence description of the video. YouTube leans harder on text metadata than TikTok or Instagram do, because Shorts also compete in YouTube search, so the output is written around searchable phrasing rather than trend tags. For a regular long-form upload, pick YouTube instead and the same two slots come back as video titles. Both are included on the Pro and Business plans; TikTok and Instagram are free.

Shorts are ranked by two systems, not one

A Short can reach people through the Shorts feed, where watch behaviour dominates, and through YouTube search and suggested video, where text metadata carries real weight. The same clip can quietly keep earning views for months through the second route long after the feed has moved on.

This is the practical difference from TikTok. On YouTube, the title, description, and tags are not an afterthought you paste in at the end. They are how the video gets classified.

How many hashtags a Short should carry

  • Three is the working limit. YouTube shows up to three hashtags beside the title. Past 60 hashtags on one video, YouTube ignores all of them.
  • Put them in the description. Hashtags in the description surface above the title automatically. Cramming them into the title costs you title space a searchable phrase would use better.
  • #shorts is optional now. It no longer decides whether a video is treated as a Short; aspect ratio and length do that. It is harmless, but it is not doing the work people think it is.

Tags versus hashtags

Tags are the hidden keyword field on the video, capped at 500 characters in total. They are a weak ranking signal on their own, but they help YouTube disambiguate topics with unusual spellings, acronyms, or names it might otherwise misread.

Hashtags are public and clickable and behave more like a small category. Use tags for coverage and hashtags for the two or three terms you actually want the video associated with.

What the description is for

The first line or two of the description is the part read by both people and YouTube's classifier. Say what the video is, in the words a person searching for it would use, before anything else. Links, credits, and boilerplate go underneath.

Frequently asked questions

Is the YouTube Shorts generator free?

YouTube Shorts is included on the Pro and Business plans. TikTok and Instagram are on the free plan, which gives every visitor 3 credits per day without an account, so you can judge the quality of the output before paying for anything.

How many hashtags should I put on a YouTube Short?

Three. YouTube displays up to three hashtags from the description beside the video title, so a fourth is never seen, and if a video carries more than 60 hashtags YouTube ignores every one of them.

Do I still need #shorts?

No. YouTube identifies Shorts by aspect ratio and length, not by the hashtag. Including it does no harm, but one of your three visible hashtags is better spent on the actual topic.

Do YouTube tags still matter?

They are a minor signal, most useful when your topic involves a name, acronym, or spelling that is easy to get wrong. They will not rescue a video nobody watches, and the whole tag field is capped at 500 characters.

Can the same description work on a long-form video?

The opening lines usually transfer well. Long-form descriptions can carry more structure, such as chapters and timestamps, which a Short has no use for. Switching the platform selector to YouTube regenerates the whole set for a long-form upload, titles included.
